Ivory is not a product. It's a color.

Decades ago, there were humongous herds of thousands of elephants roaming across Africa. They romped and played their way through the deserts, forests and plains of the great continent, without a care in the world.

Just 50 years later, they are fighting for their lives. Humans have decided that an elephant tusk or a rhino's horn is more important than the creature using it, and as the demand for ivory grows, keystone species disappear.

This is why I have a website. While elephants and rhinos may live hundreds of miles away, our spending power affects their future. There are local ties to this international problem, and it's our responsibility to find and stop them.

So here's the challenge: look around my site, learn about the animals being hunted for their ivory, and discover what you can do about it. I kick off your exploration by saying, in an innocent way, happy hunting!

"African elephants represent strength and power for many cultures on the continent and attract visitors from across the globe.

"They play a pivotal role in African ecosystems as unique 'keystone' species and natural habitat engineers, while providing an environmental focus for fundraising, awareness building and stimulating action for broader conservation efforts."
